ICMPD‘s annual flagship event, the Vienna Migration Conference (VMC), will convene this autumn for its ninth edition, bringing together decision-makers and migration practitioners from inside and outside of government. As new leaders take the helm of European Union institutions and the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum moves from blueprint to action, VMC2024 will cover a number of topics that are set to shape the European migration agenda over the next five years.

Discussions will touch labour migration, strategies for safer routes and handling irregular arrivals, public sentiment on migration, and the work ahead to start implementing the New EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. Informed by recent EU elections and ongoing negotiations to shape the new five-year mandate, this edition of VMC will again be livestreamed, connecting the global migration community to these critical discussions.
