Malin Frankenhaeuser is Director for Policy, Research, and Strategy (PRS) at ICMPD, where she leads the organisation’s strategic orientation in policy, research, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, and strategy development. She ensures institutional thought leadership through expert guidance, independent analysis, knowledge production, and quality assurance, while also heading ICMPD’s Member States Programme and overseeing key flagships such as the Vienna Migration Conference and the annual Migration Outlook. Since joining ICMPD in 2006, Frankenhaeuser has played a central role in shaping its policy and operational work. She led the Policy Unit (2017–2024), managed the Migration & Development Competence Centre (2012–2017) with projects in West Africa and Jordan, and worked extensively on border management and irregular migration (2006–2010). Her experience also includes a secondment to the Swiss GFMD Task Force (2011) and prior work with a human rights foundation in Finland. She holds a Master of Social Science in Peace and Conflict Research from Uppsala University.
