Malin Frankenhaeuser is Director for Policy, Research and Strategy at ICMPD, where she oversees the organisation’s work on policy and thematic expertise, research, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, strategy development, and its project management office. In this role, she leads efforts to strengthen ICMPD’s evidence base and analytical capacity, advance programme quality, and foster institutional learning. Her portfolio also includes ICMPD’s Member States Programme and overseeing the Vienna Migration Conference. Since joining ICMPD in 2006, Frankenhaeuser has held several leadership and expert roles across the organisation. She led the Policy Unit (2017-2024), managed the Migration & Development Competence Centre (2012-2017), and worked extensively on border management and irregular migration (2006-2010). Her experience also includes a secondment to the Swiss GFMD Task Force (2011) and prior work with a human rights foundation in Finland. She holds a Master of Social Science in Peace and Conflict Research from Uppsala University.
