Susanne Raab has served as Director General of ICMPD since January 2026, becoming the first woman to lead the organisation. Prior to her appointment, she served as Austria’s Federal Minister for Women and Integration and subsequently as Federal Minister for Women, Family, Integration and Media from 2020-2025. She was also a Member of the Austrian National Council from 2024-2025. Before entering politics, Raab held senior positions in the Austrian federal administration, including at Director General level, where she played a key role in shaping Austria’s integration policies. Earlier in her career, she worked on asylum, migration and integration matters at the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs. Alongside her administrative responsibilities, she lectured at various universities and published in the field of migration and asylum law. She holds a doctorate in law and a master’s in psychology from the University of Innsbruck.
