Amparo González-Ferrer has been recently appointed as Technical Advisor at the Statiscal Unit of the Social Security System in Spain. Previously, she served as Deputy Director General of the Reception System at the Secretary of State for Migration, and as Deputy Director General of the Unit for Migration Analysis, where she led work with a strong quantitative approach. At the Reception Unit, she coordinated the reception, allocation and integration itineraries of migrants, asylum applicants and refugees. A researcher by training, González-Ferrer is a member of the Demographic Dynamics Research Group and Senior Research Fellow at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) - the largest public research institution in Spain and one of the most renowned institutions within the European Research Area (ERA). CSIC operates under the Ministry of Science and Innovation, through the Secretary General for Research. Her academic work has focused extensively on family migration, political integration of migrants, and the determinants of international migration. She coordinated the European Project TEMPER (Temporary versus Permanent Migration) and led the Spanish team of the MAFE (Migrations between Africa and Europe).
