Ainara Dorremochea Fernández is Deputy Director General of Legal Affairs at the Spanish State Secretariat for Migration. She has been with the State Secretariat since December 2019 and was appointed to her current role in April 2021; she previously worked at the State Secretariat for Trade for 12 years, where she was responsible for matters related to mobility and international trade. Dorremochea Fernández carries out her duties from national, European, and international perspectives and has played a key role in the current reform of immigration regulations and their implementation. She participates in Council of the EU and European Commission working groups, negotiating regular migration directives and establishing Spain's position on migration issues, as well as in other forums such as the OECD and the Rabat Process.
