Tatiana Ciumas is the Head of Department for International Relations and Project Management, General Inspectorate for Migration at the Moldova’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. She is a migration and asylum expert with 21 years of work experience in public institutions combined with research activity. During her professional activity she contributed to the drafting of the legal framework on asylum, contingency planning, and integration of foreigners in the Republic of Moldova, in line with human rights and EU standards. Ciumas currently coordinates the projects that contribute to strengthening the General Inspectorate for Migration capacity in the efficient management of migration processes, maintaining an active dialogue at national and international levels. She is part of the team representing the Ministry of Internal Affairs under Chapter 24, being involved in the screening process with European Commission on migration and asylum subjects and drafting activities for the Rule of law Roadmap, a benchmark in the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
